Kris Scharfenberger has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design from the Kansas City Art Institute.  After an internship at Hallmark in Kansas City, she moved back to her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri and worked as a Graphic Designer for Monsanto Company.

Once her children were born (and after computers took over the graphic world), Kris decided to begin free lancing. It was during this time that KhrisArt was established as an art studio so that she would be able to continue to work as a traditional artist.  Her calligraphy business grew as well as her teaching and fine art production.

She currently runs a multi-tasked art studio from her home, doing calligraphy for many weddings and corporate events, creating portraits, building renderings and other fine art as well as teaching calligraphy and drawing to everyone from Kindergarten thru Adult.
 
Even though she dabbles in many different media; acrylics, pen & ink, graphite, soft pastels and oil pastels, her first love is colored pencils.
